The Bridgeton & Harrison was one of the five two foot gauge Railroads that ran as common carrier railroads in the rural areas of Maine. It ran primarily between it's namesake towns and the Maine Central at Bridgeton Jct. a total of 20.8 miles. The smaller the gauge is and the smaller the equipment is the easier it is to bend the track around the hills rather than having to cut through them. This makes construction costs much less.
